SEO Services are often thought of as being a little secretive. That is because the companies that generally provide them want to keep you in the dark regarding the actual work that they do. This is to protect their ongoing revenue that they want from you. By making it all mysterious, they can keep charging more.
Kaboom are different though, we like to provide you with the information that helps you maximise your search engine optimisation. The better the results that you achieve, the more terms you will want it to work on. So where do we start. Well, the first place to start when ever you are looking at a new website is research on the terms that you want to be found for. Often called 'Keywords' they are the terms that people will type in the search engines. You need to understand right from the offset, which terms you would like your website found for. Most people make the mistake of leaving this research until they have built there website. Normally this is too late, as you need to build the website with your keywords already in mind. Trying to retro fit your keywords into your website can often be more expensive than starting with them already in mind.
The other main benefit of knowing your keywords before you start is that you can look to use a domain name that helps with your SEO. Having a domain that matches your main keyword always helps. Failing that, something close to the keywords that you want to rank for, or something that is at least related to the main searches you want to rank for. Google and the other search engines look at the domain when they consider where they should rank you. So it is an advantage to have a good domain.
The net thing to consider is the way in which the site is built. This where the keyword research also comes into play. Building the website the right way, with the right keywords in mind is a major part of making the website work for you. The URL's should all make sense from a humans perspective. i.e. that they should use real words, not database created titles make up of gobbledygook. H1 tags, and Page Titles all come into play at this point. Once you have the right idea about putting these together though, you should be OK to create them yourself.
Now your website is built the right way, and is sat on the right domain, there is only one additional thing that you can do to get it to rank highly. That is generate back-links to the website. Back-links are where another site has a reference to your website along with a link to your domain. The search engines treat these as votes for your site, thereofre the more of these that you have, the better. There are a couple of things to remember though. The first is that recyprocal links hardly count at all, so swapping them doesn't help anyone. The other is that some websites are better than others when voting for you. Do not purchase links from link farms. They are poor quality, and the search engines frown upon them. So when they come across these link farms, they remove all value from them, sometimes even penalising the people that purchased all these links. Remeber, you get what you pay for, so 1,000 links for $100 is not good.
